Free Space Isolator

Optical isolator, also known as Faraday isolator, is composed of input polarizer, rotator with magnet, and output polarator. It is a passive device that allows light to pass in one direction and prevents passing in the opposite direction, so that light can only be transmitted in a single direction, while the backward reflected light can be well isolated.

    Optical isolator, also known as Faraday isolator, is composed of input polarizer, rotator with magnet, and output polarator. It is a passive device that allows light to pass in one direction and prevents passing in the opposite direction, so that light can only be transmitted in a single direction, while the backward reflected light can be well isolated.

    Free space optical isolator is a kind of passive optical device based on Faraday effect of magneto-optical crystal, which only allows one-way propagation of light in optical system. It can effectively reduce the external cavity feedback of diode laser system and cut off the reflection of free space fiber coupling. At the same time, the stability of the optical system is increased, the feedback is eliminated, and the damage to the sensitive optical elements is avoided. Free space isolators can be divided into polarization dependent and polarization independent. They are widely used in various optical systems and devices, such as lasers, optical communication systems, optical amplifiers, traveling wave cavities and so on.
